The threats of SARs have become so real that the war over at iraq is not as huge a concern for me as SARs. I was deliberately nonchalant when my friend wanted a quote from me about the peace gatherings held in Singapore for the war so that she could put it in her newspaper article (hope i dont get fired for the kinda remarks that i made in the paper). Afterall, unity in diversity is great but who really cares about the freaking gatherings when the chances of catching SARs in these gatherings are probably raised? Not that I am denying the existence of inhumane acts committed in Iraq, I just do not want to pretend to be some compassionate being who is trying to right every wrong and shower my pity on the unfortunate. The repercussions of the war on our country are probably not as bad as the repercussions of SARs coz even if the war goes on, ppl will still flock here for holidays but with the SARs, forget it. The economy is in a mess now, with ppl shunning shopping centres. Imagine my amazement when i went out on a wkend and found so few ppl. Heck the war coz SARs is so real, that anyone of us can get infected. With rumours flying around in the campus that so and so lecturer has SARs, i wonder if some idiot is trying to scare my school into suspending classes so that the exams will be postponed, which will be terribly delightful for me coz i m not prepared at all. and i have been hoping that someone from my school but not from my class of course, gets it so that my sch will shut down, hehe.
I have been down with flu and fever which comes on and off for the past two wks and there were times when i thought i was down wif SARs. My immunity system is so bloody low now that if i ever get infected, I will certainly meet death. I certainly hope that WHO (why the hell are they so inefficient?) will nail the virus with some cure coz the last thing i want is an epidemic outbreak here. I definintely love myself enough to wana stay alive and enjoy life as well. of course, i hope that those irresponsible freaks who insist on going to HK or China for a holiday will get SARs in those countries instead of coming back here to spread it to us. Well, that's all i hafta say coz I dont wana be seen as some hypochondriac who's hyped up about the dangers of SARs.
